Clear Your Browser Cookies

HTTP cookies are parcels of text sent by a server to a Web client (usually a browser) and then sent back unchanged by the client each time it accesses that server. Cookies are used for authenticating, session tracking (state maintenance), and maintaining specific information about users, such as site preferences or the contents of their electronic shopping carts. Clearing your cookies may help improve your computer's speed and performance.

To clear your cookies, follow the steps that apply to your browser:

Internet Explorer

Edge
Firefox
Google Chrome
Safari
iPad/iPhone

Android


Internet Explorer 11
(Note: Graphics maybe slightly different, but these instructions can also be used for IE8, IE9, and IE10.)

  1. On the Internet Explorer Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options box should open to the General tab.
  2. On the General tab, in the Browsing history section, click the Delete button.
  3. In the Delete Browsing History box, check the Cookies and website data option.
  4. Make sure the Preserve Favorites website data box in UNCHECKED.
  5. Click the Delete button.
  6. Once it is finished, click OK on Internet Options.

Edge

  1. At the top of the Edge window, click on the Edge menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Privacy & Security.
  4. Under the Privacy & Security section, select Choose what to clear.
  5. Under Clear browsing data select Clear.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox menu.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Select 'Privacy & Security'.
  4. Select 'Clear Data...' under the Cookies and Site Data.
  5. On the Clear Data pop up window make sure that Cookies and Site Data is checked and select Clear.
  6. On the following pop up window select Clear Now

 

Optional: If you want to ONLY remove VIN or VSPN cookies:

  1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox menu.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Select 'Privacy & Security'.
  4. Select Manage Data... under the Cookies and Site Data.
  5. Search for VIN or VSPN.
  6. Select all the cookies in Search result box by Ctrl select.
  7. Select Remove Selected.

Google Chrome

  1. Click on the menu icon on the browser toolbar.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Advanced.
  4. Select Site Settings.
  5. Select Clear browsing data.
  6. In the dialog box that appears, make sure the checkboxes for Cookies and other site data is selected.
  7. In the same dialog box, select the time range of data that you want to delete on the Time Range drop down.
  8. Click Clear data.

Safari

For Windows

*Note: Apple no longer supports Safari on Windows

  1. Click on the gear icon

     
    on the browser toolbar.
  2. Select Reset Safari.
  3. In the Reset Safari window, check the box next to Remove all Cookies
  4. Click Reset to clear out the checked items on the list.


 

For Mac

  1. Click on the Safari menu on the top-left of the screen.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Select Privacy.
  4. Select Manage Website Data.
  5. click Remove All

iPhone

  1. Select Settings.
  2. Select Safari.
  3. Select Clear History and website Data.
  4. Select Clear History and Data on the pop-up box.

 

iPad

  1. Select Settings.
  2. Select Safari.
  3. Select Clear History and Website Data.
  4. Tap Clear on the conformation message.

Chrome

  1. Select Chrome.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select History.
  4. Select Clear browsing data...
  5. Make sure the checkbox for Cookies and site data is selected.
  6. Select the time range of data that you want to delete on the Time Range drop down.
  7. Select Clear data.
